WALKER, LA (WAFB) –
An alert to pet owners in the Walker area. Neighbors in the Woodland Crossing subdivision believe there’s an animal killer on the loose.
Rocky and his owner, Kimberly Shows, became lifelong friends a few months ago after she found him severely wounded in her front yard.
“The vet did x-rays and said that he was shot, and that he was shot with a .22-caliber pistol or shot gun,” said Shows.
Residents in Woodland Crossing say Rocky is not the first animal found badly injured. They say at least 16 cats have been beaten and drowned around the neighborhood, and several dogs have been shot.
“My daughter opened the door and he was just laying at our front door bleeding,” said Tara Tindle who’s dog died from what she believes was a gunshot wound.
A Livingston Parish sheriff’s spokesperson says they don’t know much about the dogs, but they have looked into the cat allegations. One neighbor told investigators that they spotted a child shooting at the cats, but the one they found appeared to have been hit and killed by a car. Residents say they know how many beat up cats and shot dogs they’ve seen, and they continue to hear horror stories about others. They know that someone is behind this, and pray that the they’re caught quickly.
“They have no idea what they took from me because that was my family,” said Tindle.
