Hollins was not injured, but was transported to Ochsner Medical Center in Kenner, where he remained Monday evening

Upon his release from the medical center, Hollins will be transferred to the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, where he will be charged with illegal carrying and discharging of weapons and aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce, Matey said.

“Our goal in these types of situation is to resolve everything peacefully with no one being hurt,” Matey said. “That’s how this ended Sunday night.”

A suicidal, bridge-jumping gunman was at the center of an interstate standoff with Louisiana State Police between Kenner and LaPlace, a scene that caused closures, backups and tense moments Sunday night.

Troopers say Vincent Hollins, 37, plunged into the water from the ledge of the I-10’s elevated section near the Bonnet Carre Spillway before being rescued by St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s deputies who were at the ready on-board a police boat.
Hollins is said to be in good condition and was rushed to a hospital for further evaluation.
