Richard Land’s show canceled, reprimanded by ELRC

Richard Land was issued two reprimands today by the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, according to the Baptist Press.

The executive committee also made a move to end Land’s weekly call-in radio show, where comments about the Trayvon Martin killing were made and ignited a controversy.

For the past 24 years, Land, president of the Southern Baptists’ Nashville-based Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, has become one of the leading voices of the Religious Right and the public face of Southern Baptists, the nation’s largest Protestant group.

Now Land’s future is in doubt. He’s being investigated by a Baptist committee for his remarks about the Trayvon Martin shooting and for alleged plagiarism.

The committee will issue its report by Friday, and there’s a possibility that Land could lose his job.

This is a breaking news story. The Tennessean will report more as details become available.

Not able to find his alleged plagiarized Trayvon Martin rant at this time, but here he is talking about Mittens.  One of the statements that many took exception to  in his  “rant” is that the President used the shooting of Trayvon Martin for political gain.  Do you really need to plagiarize someone to come up with that thought though?  Those who take exception I guess are saying that that statement isn’t true.  It’s clear that is true and it did not help the situation one bit, and in fact made it worse.

Obama acted stupidly.
