Mother arrested for Negligent Homicide after child drowns in bathtub

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC33) — An 11 month old child drowned in a bathtub last night at a home off of Hooper Road and her mother is now behind bars.

The Baton Rouge Police Department responded to the call shortly after 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29. Upon arrival the mother, Lashay Bradley, 22, informed officers that she had left the child in the bathtub with the water running. When she returned, the child, Lailah, had slipped under the water and was unresponsive.

The child was taken to a local hospital but she was later pronounced dead.

Bradley was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Negligent Homicide.
