Louisiana bans tax credits for adult films

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana will have an explicit ban against pornographic films receiving state tax credits.

The prohibition proposal (Senate Bill 513) by Sen. A.G. Crowe, R-Slidell, was given final passage Monday by the state Senate, sending it to the governor’s desk.

The Department of Economic Development testified during debate on the measure that no film tax credit was ever requested for a pornographic movie.

Rather than define pornography, the bill prohibits the tax credits for any film that has to register with the federal government, under the federal Child Protection and Obscenity Enforcement Act.
