Adults accused of setting up fight between teens

A Union Parish mother and her boyfriend were accused of arranging a fight between two juveniles, Sheriff Bob Buckley said Friday.

Melisa Ferrington, 36, of 104 Charles Dean Road, Farmerville, was booked Friday on three counts of felony contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile. She was released on bonds totaling $30,000.

Joseph Hammond, 38, of 107 Rabbit Run, Marion, had warrants issued for his arrest on the same charges. Detectives said Hammond is working in the North Dakota oilfields but has agreed to turn himself in when he returns to the parish.

Ferrington’s 17-year-old son, Dylan Ferrington, also was booked on three counts of felony contributing plus two counts of second-degree battery after reportedly becoming involved in the two fights that occurred on April 25. He was released on a total bond of $20,500.

The mother and Hammond are accused of setting up a fight between Ferrington’s 14-year-old juvenile son and a 16-year-old after the two argued over a girl, according to detectives investigating the case. They also promoted the fight using Facebook and inviting people to attend.
