About 70 freight train cars burglarized of electronics, clothing, shoes, etc. – Chase White

WAGGAMAN, La. – Between late Tuesday night and 8 a.m. Wednesday, Union Pacific Rail Road freight train cars were burglarized while they were stationed and awaiting a change of personnel in Waggaman, according to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Department.

On Wednesday morning, a crew member contacted the UPRR Police Department about several train doors that were open and various boxes scattered about the tracks.

When officers arrived to the main UPRR rail line adjacent to South Kenner Road, they saw that the seal used to secure the doors of about 70 freight containers had been cut and removed, along with most of the merchandise within.

The monetary loss is predicted to be substantial, seeing that the majority of items taken were electronics, clothing and shoes.

Investigators from the JPSO assisted officers in a follow-up investigation that led to 22-year-old Chase White.
